Our Team

Jon Grant

Lead Pastor

Welcome to Trulls Road! I am so glad you found us. I truly love this church - We are a community who are intentional about following Jesus by growing deeper in our faith and sharing God’s love in our community. I am passionate about pastoral leadership, investing in new leadership, joining together in meaningful worship, and engaging in thoughtful conversation with others about life.

I am blessed to have attended several educational institutes that have equipped me for ministry. I studied at Redeemer University, Heritage College and Seminary, the Robert E. Webber Institute for Worship Studies, as well as the Parachute School of Toronto! With over 30 years of ministry experience, I have served in a variety of roles, including youth pastor, denominational youth director, church planter, and worship arts pastor. When I’m not serving in ministry, I love spending time at the beach, enjoying good espresso, listening to live music, and spending time with friends.

Whether you’re looking for a family-friendly church, a place to explore your faith, or a supportive environment for spiritual growth, we would love to meet you. There is always a place for you here at Trulls Road Church.

Joan Stonehouse

Pastor of Care

The Church has been a central part of my life for as long as I can remember, and it has brought me great joy to serve as Pastor of Care and Fellowship here at Trulls Road Church since 2010. I have a background in Couple and Family Counselling as well as Elementary School Teaching which has enriched my abilities in pastoral and community care. It is truly a privilege for me to walk alongside people in every season of life - whether that's celebrating the joyful moments or offering support through difficult times. I am passionate about helping our church community grow emotionally, relationally, and spiritually. My deep desire, within the church and beyond, is to be an instrument of hope and see people experience the transforming power of a relationship with Jesus in their everyday lives.

Outside of ministry, I am blessed to share life with my husband, Vic as we are the proud parents of two grown sons: Paul, with his wife Amanda and our grandson Findley, who live in Vermont, and David, with his wife Melanie and our grandsons Henry and Peter, who live in British Columbia. In my free time, I enjoy hiking, connecting with friends, and spending time with my grandchildren, who are truly the joy of my life!

If you are seeking a welcoming Christian environment, spiritual direction, or a place for encouragement and support, I invite you to reach out or visit us this Sunday. We would love to walk alongside you.

Cory Toutant

Pastor of Discipleship

What a joy it is to be part of Trulls Road Church. I grew up in the Free Methodist Church, giving my life to the Lord at age four. I first attended Trulls Road as a teen, and since 2021 my wife, Tracy, our son, Samuel, and I have been back worshiping here. We were warmly welcomed into the congregation and, once again, embraced as I stepped onto the pastoral team. Being part of a community with a heart for serving is a blessing, and there are countless opportunities to both serve and be served.

Before entering pastoral ministry, I spent 25 years in retail, where I thrived in a fast-paced environment that required strategy, planning, and teamwork. What I valued most, however, was connecting with people—whether coworkers, partners, or customers. Early in my career, I learned the importance of every role in achieving a greater purpose. That truth reflects a biblical principle: many parts working together form one body. The lessons I gained in leadership, unity, and care for people continue to shape my approach to ministry.

In my spare time, I enjoy camping, hiking, watching movies, and playing immersive video games. More than anything, though, I am passionate about learning and growing in faith—whether through reading Scripture, studying theology, listening to podcasts, or attending seminary. I especially love engaging in conversations that draw us closer to Christ. A guiding mantra for me comes from a beloved hymn: “I have decided to follow Jesus. No turning back, no turning back.”

Gabby Bassinghwaite

Pastor of Family Ministries

I have been a part of the Free Methodist Church my entire life, and at the age of 10, God placed a calling to ministry on my heart. Through the support of leaders and faithful friends, I have had the opportunity to follow this calling by serving as a Lay Minister, completing my Bachelor of Religious Education Degree at Tyndale University, and now at Trulls Road Church.

Teenage years are such a wonderful, formative, and often challenging period. It’s during this time that young people need trusted mentors whom they can lean on to guide them and continually point them towards Jesus. Being that support for the youth at Trulls Road Church is a blessing that I do not take for granted.

In my downtime, I enjoy reading, writing and going on long nature walks to explore. I also have a thriving plant collection that brings me joy.

Debi Gunter

Office Administrator

I am blessed to have grown up in a christian home and came to know Jesus at an early age. My husband Dennis and I, along with our children Erin and Mark, began attending Trulls Road in 1983, and it has been our home church ever since.

Before joining the Trulls Road team in 1997, I worked at Bell Canada and then managed a small real estate office. My experience in these positions equipped me with valuable skills that support my work as the Church Administrator. I often smile when I’m asked “after typing the bulletin, what do you do?”. The truth is, working in a church office is full of purpose, whether it's coordinating details, supporting staff, or helping to ensure things run smoothly. It is my privilege to help carry out the vision and ministry of Trulls Road and serve behind the scenes, using the gifts God has given me.

Over the years, I have enjoyed sharing the gospel through music - singing in a quartet (Reunion) with Dennis and close friends. One of my greatest joys is being a Gramma to five wonderful grandchildren, and I pray God will use me to influence their lives for Him.

Elizabeth Gunter

Prayer Director

From a very young age I have contemplated big questions and enjoyed discussing people-related issues like personalities, relationships and God. Through art school, marriage, and motherhood, the desire to seek God has only grown stronger. I was raised in the Free Methodist Church and have always desired to live whatever adventure God called me to. Over the years I have volunteered in nearly every area of church ministry and am now excited to serve the church in the area of prayer.

My biggest passion is to make a positive difference in the world through encouraging people to grow in their personal relationship with God. He is always at work, always calling us to draw nearer to Him, and always challenging us to step out further in our faith. Life with God is the best adventure. I'm excited to partner with Him and with our church as we pursue what it means to pray continually, always giving thanks, persevering in our petitions, trusting Him to answer, and listening for His voice in our lives.

I asked Jesus to come into my life when I was 23 years old and have been surprised by joy ever since.  I met my wife, Karen at the church where we both worshipped in Scarborough. We began attending Trulls Road in 2019 after moving to Courtice. We have three wonderful children: a son and daughter in Toronto and a son and daughter-in-law in British Columbia.

I graduated in the Tool and Die Trade and began working as a machine setter. I then moved to the engineering division, working on the product line for runway lighting systems.

I joined the Trulls Road Facilities Team as Facilities Manager in 2023. I’m glad to help with the maintenance of God’s house and be part of His growing Kingdom. I have made my living with my hands, so I offer them to the Lord.

Facility Manager

Kevin Bodashefsky

Associate Custodian

Hello, my name is Kevin, and I have been a member of Trulls Road Church since 2011. As a child, I attended Calvary Baptist Church regularly and accepted Jesus at eleven years old. Since joining Trulls Road Church, I’ve grown in my relationship with Jesus, and I am thankful for the opportunity to serve and be part of a welcoming church community where God’s word is faithfully preached.

I have been married to my wonderful wife, Cheryl, since 1987, and we are proud parents to two adult children - Brenden and Jordan. Our son Brenden, Jess, and our granddaughter Hadley live in Oshawa, while Jordan lives in Bowmanville. Though now retired from Ontario Shores, my role in Environmental Services has given me experience keeping facilities clean and safe, which translates into my role as Associate Custodian - a position I was blessed to begin in February 2023. It brings me joy to serve God and our church family by helping care for the building while getting to know the community better as we grow together in Jesus.

In my free time, I love spending quality time with family at the cottage, fishing, boating, swimming, reading, and golfing when time permits. I am thankful to be a part of this welcoming church community, and I look forward to what Jesus has in store for me.
